While December is home to wonderful holidays and observances from the quirky to the traditional, it is also National Human Rights Month, National Drunk & Drugged Driving Prevention Month, and Worldwide Food Service Safety Month. It is a perfect month to bring awareness to important causes, and encourage giving and outpouring of support for issues that may not be at the top of our minds.
In addition to Hannukah (to celebrate the Festival of Lights) Christmas (to celebrate the birth of Christ) and Kwanzaa (passing down African cultural heritage through feasts, storytelling, crafts) , December holidays and observances include several days of remembrance including Pearl Harbor Day of Remembrance (December 7th) and National Wreaths Across America Day (December 17th). And let’s not forget Santa’s List Day (December 4th), Walt Disney Day (December 6th) and Gingerbread Decorating Day (December 12) among others.
